Importing A Custom or Industry Standard Classification System From Microsoft Excel

Classification codes are not project specific and can be used in multiple areas: to categorize companies and cost database items, create sections in an estimate, or for job cost codes.

How To Prepare The Microsoft Excel Import File

  1. Open a blank Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet or download the sample file referenced below.
  2. The first row (column names) should be labeled as shown in the table. Be sure to include the required fields. Field names do not contain any spacing within the word or before and after.
  3. Insert data starting at Row 2.
  4. Make sure the sheet name that contains the data is labeled Sheet1.
  5. Save the file in Excel 97-2003 format (*.xls).
  6. Close the file otherwise Corecon can not import the data.

Steps To Import the File From Settings

  1. Login to Corecon as an Admin.
  2. Click Settings (Gear Icon) at the top of the Main Menu.
  3. Click Company Settings | Cost Codes.
  4. Click the 'Import Classifications From Microsoft Excel' link shown above the grid.
  5. Enter the Classification Name in the Type field. Example: Tower GC Cost Codes.
  6. Click the 'Select Excel File' button to select the Microsoft Excel import file.
  7. After selecting the file, the classification system will be created and data imported.
