Important Things To Know

  • Microsoft Project 2010, 2013, and 2016 are only supported at this time.
  • The Schedule in Microsoft Project cannot contain any Resources, strictly tasks and relationships.
  • Remove blanks rows in MS Project before saving it to XML format.
  • Make sure predecessor task references appear before current task.
  • Relationships should have positive lags only.
  • Make sure a day in MS Project is set to 8 hours not 24. Help Article

Data Entry Steps To Import a Microsoft Project XML File

The steps listed below are to create a schedule from a Microsoft Project XML file. As mentioned above, the XML file must be created using either Microsoft Project 2010, 2013, or 2016.

  1. Click the 'Projects' icon on the left menu.
  2. Select the Project in the 'Quick Select' section. This will then refresh the page and show the 'Current Project Home' page.
  3. On the 'Quick Links' tab, click the 'Scheduling' link under the 'Project Management and Field Staff' section. This will refresh the page and show the 'Scheduling Landing Page'.
  4. Navigate to the 'Schedules (Gantt Chart)' section.
  5. Click the blue 'Actions' button on the far right.
  6. Click 'Add Schedule' option from the drop-down menu.
  7. The Project # should be selected already but it can be changed.
  8. Optional: Specify the Prime Contract #. For design-build firms, developers, and homebuilders, this is recommended if there are going to be multiple lots or contracts.
  9. Enter the Schedule # (eg. 001) and Title.
  10. Select the Work Calendar which will determine Work Days (ex. Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.) and Holidays. Admins can add Calendars in Settings | Feature Settings | Scheduling.
  11. Optional: Enter any Comments.
  12. Select the 'Import From MS Project XML' option.
  13. Click the 'Choose File' button to select the Microsoft Project file in XML format. Make sure the file is closed before uploading.
  14. Click the blue 'Save and View' button at the bottom.
