Scheduling Functions - Indenting and Outdenting Tasks To Create Parent or Child Hierarchy

Indent Task (To Move Right and Create Child)

  1. In the Gantt Chart listing, select a task using the circular checkbox on the left.
  2. Click the 'Indent' button on the Toolbar. This will shift the task to the right so that the task above will become the parent. There can be multiple tasks with the same indention. In that scenario, all the sub tasks will have the same parent.
  3. Click the 'Save' button on the Toolbar.

Outdent Task (To Move Left)

  1. In the Gantt Chart listing, select a task using the circular checkbox on the left.
  2. Click the 'Outdent' button on the Toolbar. This will shift the task to the left.
  3. Click the 'Save' button on the Toolbar.

Add New Parent Task and Indent Tasks Below

  1. Select the first task that will have a new Parent Task.
  2. Right-click the mouse and click 'Add new row'
  3. Enter the task description and select any date. The date will change once it becomes a parent task.
  4. Select one or more tasks below it that will become child tasks.
  5. Click the 'Indent' button on the Toolbar.
  6. Click the 'Save' button on the Toolbar.
  7. Optional but recommended:
    1. Select all tasks by clicking the radio button to the left of the ID column.
    2. Click the 'Global Chnages' button.
    3. Select 'Reset IDs based on current Sort Order'.
    4. Click the 'Apply' button.
