Important Things To Know

  • At the present time, Stratosphere does not support multiple users per firm so an individual login must be linked to a Corecon account. Thus, Corecon users working on an estimate will use the same Stratosphere login.
  • A Lead/Project and Estimate should be initially set up in Corecon then this information and related drawings can be used to create the Stratosphere project. See details below on how objects are linked/exported.
    • Corecon Lead/Project --> Stratosphere Project
    • Corecon Uploaded Drawings --> Stratosphere Documents
    • Corecon Estimate Line Items --> Stratosphere Layers
  • The 'View In Stratosphere' button shown at the top right of Corecon's Estimate Items tab should only be used when Stratosphere is not open. Clicking this button will open the appropriate linked Project in Stratosphere.
  • A Project in Stratosphere can contain numerous Documents (ex. drawing files in PDF format) and Layers.
  • A Layer in the Stratosphere designates a type of measurement (ex. linear, area or count) and may contain one or more measurements from different documents.

Prerequisite: Add Stratosphere Login Credentials in Corecon

  1. Login to Corecon as an Admin
  2. Click Settings | Feature Settings | Estimating
  3. Select Stratosphere for the Digitizer Software
  4. Enter login credentials for Stratosphere (ex. Email and Password)
  5. Click the blue 'Save' button

Process

Setup Corecon Lead or Project including Drawings and Specifications:

  1. Create Lead or Project in Corecon
  2. Go to 'Drawings, Specs and ITB Module'
  3. Add Drawings by uploading PDF files
  4. Optional: Add Specifications by uploading PDF files
  5. Go to 'Estimate and RFP Package Module'
  6. Add Estimate

Create Stratosphere Project and copy Drawings and Specifications from Corecon:

  1. In Corecon's Estimate Properties form, navigate to the 'Use Digitizer' section and check 'Use Digitizer for Estimate' field.
  2. Go through the setup wizard to create a project in Stratosphere and upload Drawings and Specification files (optional).

Add Estimate Cost Codes and Line Items:

  1. In the Estimate Properties form, click the blue 'View Estimate' button.
  2. Add Estimate Cost Codes
  3. Add Estimate Cost Line Items

Optional: Digitize Individual Estimate Line Item:

  1. Navigate to the line item to be digitized.
  2. Click on the cost line item description. This will redirect and show the line item details form.
  3. Optional: Click 'Create Layer in Stratosphere' to create new layer for the line item. This button is shown to the right of 'Item Quantity'.
  4. Optional: Click 'Link with existing Stratospher Layer' if a layer was created manually in Stratosphere for the item measurement. This button is shown to the right of 'Item Quantity'.
    1. In the popup form, select the corresponding layer for the cost line item.
    2. Optional: Use the Search field to filter layers. This will only appear if there are 20 or more layers.
    3. Click the blue 'Link with Existing Layer' button
  5. Switch to Stratosphere and complete linear, area and/or count measurement
  6. Switch back to Corecon's estimate item details form
  7. Click the 'Update Measurement from Stratosphere' button shown to the right of 'Item Quantity'.

Optional: Digitize Multiple Estimate Line Items:

  1. In the Items tab, select one or more line items to be digitized by click the checkbox on the left.
  2. Click the 'Global Changes' button above the grid
  3. Choose one of the options below.
    • Create Area Layer in Stratosphere
    • Create Linear Layer in Stratosphere
    • Create Count Layer in Stratosphere
  4. Switch to Stratosphere and complete linear, area and/or count measurements
  5. Switch back to Corecon's Estimate Items tab
  6. Optional: Select the 'Digitize Items' in the Special Filter drop-down
  7. Select all items
  8. Click the 'Global Changes' button above the grid
  9. Choose 'Update Measurements from Stratosphere'

Optional: Change Individual Estimate Line Item Measurement Type:

  1. Navigate to the line item that requires a measurement type change.
  2. Click on the cost line item description. This will redirect and show the line item details form.
  3. Click 'Update Measurement Type' button on the far right of 'Item Quantity'.
  4. In the popup form, change the measurement type (ex. linear to area, area to count).
  5. Click the blue 'Update Type' button

Optional: Remove Stratosphere Link on Individual Estimate Line Item:

  1. Navigate to the line item that requires a Stratophere Layer link to be removed.
  2. Click on the cost line item description. This will redirect and show the line item details form.
  3. Click 'Delete Stratosphere Link' button on the far right of 'Item Quantity'.
